Movie Premiere/ YouTube Debut

Regarding the movie debut:

The movie premiere will be held at the PokéDay event, on December 21. On the internet, the debut will take place in the days following the event, during the Christmas holidays.

It took some time (for lots of reasons) but the movie will be delivered in 2011, just like we promised.
Consider it our X-Mas gift to all our faithful fans and supporters out there. :)

Thank you again for your praises, suggestions, and criticisms, but most of all, thank you all for your patience while we hustle to get our work done.

We've started this Blog one year ago :) God, it went by fast!

Finally, this journey is coming to an end.. let's see if it was all worth it.
The movie shall be released in September (or this month, if time permits it).

It all depends on the time I take to finish the effects.. I'm already working on the Final Battle of the movie.

We're still waiting for CAMEOS!! Come on people, don't miss the chance of appearing in the movie :)

28 - Working on the FX

I've been working like crazy on the Special FX -.O'

The movie is looking great so far, we're quite happy with the achieved results.
They could be better but as you know... I'm working alone on this.

After the FX, I'll have to work on the Sound, the final editing and choose the best background music for each scene.

It might take a little longer than I expected to release the movie, but it'll be worth it (I hope... xD)

After the movie is complete, hopefully a guy will help on the Subtitles for it... it's other thing that consumes a lot of time.

I've just finished the 2nd battle of the movie :) Here's a picture:

Hi guys :)

It's been a while, hm?

College is finally over and I've started working like crazy on the movie. We already shot everything!! It took 34 days through out 1 year to shoot the entire movie... it was hard, but a lot of fun nonetheless :)

Now, there's only 3D animation and editing to do. I don't know how much time it will take but hopefully, we'll have the movie ready by August.

A special thanks for everyone who followed our blog through out this year.
Your support made the difference and it help us more than you think! Thanks guys!

PS: Sorry to dissapoint some of you, but the movie won't have 5th Gen on it... we wrote and shot the movie prior to the release of Black and White.

26 - Another chance for a CAMEO

Hi people!!

We gave the opportunity for the fans to appear in the movie a while ago...
you didn't make it? We're giving you another chance :)

All you need is a camera!!

Here's the proposal. The scene should be filmed in a large area (outdoors of course). You're just there with a small Pokemon (which we'll integrate later) at your side when suddenly a HUGE red beam (like those of the pokeballs) appears from the sky and captures it ... you try to grab him, but you don't get there in time.
The language doesn't matter.

This is the scene ;) You think you can do it?

You can't choose the Pokémon unfortunately... we're limited to the 3d models we have.

The Pokemon will be added later in the FX department... we dont know which one we'll put in there. Just act as if he's small.

Film shooting at mountain top + snow + wind + hail + fog = GEEZUS! XP

With these extreme conditions it is no surprise that film shooting is next to impossible.

We were well prepared for the mountain challenge but we weren't expecting a blizzard that's for sure! XD

Anyway, what an adventure!

We had a great time together, despite the harsh conditions.

We'll have to be patient and wait for sunnier weather and then we'll return to the mountain. But we still want some snow! JUST snow!

(BTW, everyone's safe, so don't worry.) ;)

It's been a while hasn't it? I apolagize, my life hasn't been too well... so, I wasn't able to give news.

Anyway, the movie goes on... although, slowly.

I'm working a Trailer right now. I suck at making trailers x) It's a form of art in itself and I dont have much practice. It won't show much... I hate the kind of Trailers that show and spoil everything. You'll have an ideia of the story and the quality of the movie.

Fight Choreography Test (1st Attempt)

Just something we remembered on the spot, then tried to shot something cool for fun.

This was our first attempt at shooting a Fight Scene... we might do a few more.

It's not that good, but... for a 1st time, and since none of us can actually fight we think it turned out ok x)

I wanted to try something like this for quite some time... after attending an awesome MasterClass given by David- Chan, a professional Stunt Coordinator.

Holidays for 3 weeks. Which will give me time to advance with the movie...

There's still a lot to do, but everything is going great!!

I've just finished the 1st battle of the movie, Lucario VS Feraligatr, and I'm quite happy with the result ^^

The third installment in the action-packed Ranger series, Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs takes the winner trophy, chosen by 20 voters (24% of votes) beating the previous games, Pokémon Ranger (3 votes) and Shadows of Almia (4 votes).

Looking at the results, it seems that Guardian Signs stands out as the best Ranger game. Aaaaaaand.... if "third" means "best", we sure hope that our third movie stands out as well. XD

BUT (!) the true winners are (undoubtedly) the Rangers greatest "rivals": the Pokémon Trainers. ^^'

For 25 voters (30% of votes), the "traditional" games and the Trainer way of life still define the true Pokémon experience. Judging by the poll results, that's what we think.

Nevertheless, the Ranger games are a worthy experience, giving the player another perspective on the Pokémon universe. :)

21 - Towards the End...

Hello dear fans,

Sorry for not saying much lately... I've been way busy with School :/
I hope that you've all enjoyed the Sneak Peek.

We're currently giving more attention to our 3D models, rather than Special FX.
We're building some 3D models, fixing others, rigging... it's a fun process actually, but it takes some time...

4 days left to shoot, but... it will be 4 hard days. Each day must be carefully prepared, since its the end. Basically, I've got to do this:

That's right, Storyboarding. I love it, but it takes a lot of time too...
It's hard when you're making a whole movie by yourself, and that's why it's taking so long... but, don't worry!! It'll be worth the wait :) (At least, I hope so xD )

We're getting closer each day...

Anyway, have any of you guys watched the 13th movie? What do you think?
I was kinda disapointed :/ In the other hand, I'm actually enjoying Best Wishes.

20 - Shooting at Night

We've ended the month of November shooting 3 days in a row!! Friday, Saturday and Sunday. 12 GB of footage to watch, more than 500 video files...

I'm exhausted but thrilled :D We're heading towards the end!! It has been awesome to shoot the EPIC events that preceed the end ^^

We had some technical issues in these past few days which was... shooting at night.
In the first night someone called the Police! That someone thought that we were doing something bad or ilegal... I don't know x) The Police was actually pretty cool and reacted well when we said that we were shooting a movie. They just warned us to be careful with the noise. It was scary to see them approaching none the less... we thought that we were getting into trouble...

The other problem is that, even with illumination, my camera ends up losing quality and gaining Grain:

Since this is an amateur project we ended up with no other option...

Other factor was that, its Winter here and its extremely cold. Its was very hard to shoot but... we survived x) We had a great time and we're happy with the results.

7 days of shooting to end the movie!!!!!! We have 23 behind us.

19 - A lot of work...

1st post of November!! I'm sorry it took so long but I didn't knew what to write...

We're only shooting during the weekends now, due to school. Besides, we're not able to shoot every weekend... Some of us are extremely busy with school projects... when we're not busy, it rains and we can't shoot outside... so, we won't be able to give News very often like we did in the Summer.

It's going slow but at least its going good. Even though we're not shooting very often, the movie keeps going forward on the FX department. We're happy with the results so far :) Here's a small peak to feed your curiosity:

PS: I'm playing "Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs" and I'm kinda pissed, since some ideas in the Game seem very similar to what we're doing in the movie x) Oh well...

18 - RANGER BASE

Ah, nothing feels better than a successful day of shooting :D

We've been at the RANGER BASE!!

I was so nervous.. This was a veeery important day and I didn't want anything to ruin it.

We had a wonderful time together. A good example of how a shooting day should be.
Even with the stress and the pressure upon us, we managed to enjoy ourselves and work at the same time.

There's still 9 days left but we're going in a good way.

17 - A New Phase starts: FX

I've succesfully edited the 19 days we've shot so far!! It took me quite a while, but it was a fun process.

Since we're only going to shoot about 2 weeks from now, I've started working on the Special Effects.

We supposedly had people to help with the animations and the 3D models, but I haven't received nothing from them... I just hate the fact that people compromise to do things and then quit :/ Why accept in the first place?

Well, it doesn't matter... I'll manage to do things on my own, but it'll take more time, much more time...

The only one that truly helped me with something was this guy that I met in YouTube called "Viijay". It was the only one who accepted to help us for free and the only one to actually do something for the project.

Nós vamos andar por lá dia 23 (Sábado) e é provavel que venhamos a apresentar lá o Teaser e falar um pouco sobre o filme. Portanto, se leste isto e fores lá, vem dizer-nos "Olá" ;)

16 - Organizing + We're hiring

Hello people!! The first post of October :) This month I'll be dedicated to organize and prepare the half of the movie that still needs to be shot. It includes things like: Contacting people for roles, make storyboards, see were I'll need to spend money (props, gasoline, etc)

In the meantime I'm also working on the Editing of the footage we've already gathered. It's a slow process since I'm working alone in this...

In order to end this project faster and better, we need some extra people working on it and there's some jobs that need to be filled. If you'd like to help us out or know someone that might, please contact us.

We currently need:
1 - 3D Animators
2 - 3D Riggers/ Skinners
3 - 3D Modelers

Personal thoughts on "Best Wishes"

I just saw the first two episodes from the new Season, Best Wishes, and I decided to give you my thoughts.

I liked the new animation style, the new Pokedex, the opening and the BGM but... Come on!! Ash is still 10, he doesn't know how to catch a Pokémon, Pikachu is defeated by a Lvl5 Pokémon... What were they thinking?!

That Coma Theory might not be as far fetched as we might think...

EDIT: After thinking about it... my theory is that "Best Wishes" is set in a parallel dimension. This Ash is a different version of the original... Haven't you noticed? Different attitude, still 10 years old, a noob... I mean, it's got to be that, right? ^^

...I don't know what to think anymore... xD I guess we'll just have to accept the fact that there's no logic in the Pokémon Anime. There's no point trying to find one.
It's just sad that it could be sooo much better. The Manga is so great, why don't they pick it up for Anime? :/

15 - Another day of shooting + Serious Competition?! (Apokélipse)

After 3 weeks, I finally grabbed my Camera again ^^ I was needing it.

One more day succesfully fulfilled!! It was a small scene, only 2 pages... but that doesn't mean it was easy x)

André (aka Carlos Mateus) made a few small injuries during the Shooting.

He had to fall into the ground for a scene. I was worried with him, but he took it like a sport and everything went good. He is a great actor to work with :)

In other news... During this week a friend of mine presented me a video that threw me off my chair. It looks like I have some serious competition:

I was truly amazed with this, it's very well done. I just didn't like the actor who plays Ash... but the rest was great!!

Although I'm way below their level, I was happy to see some fans defending us saying that our movie had "a more "game" oriented battle sequences in which minimal movement is used, and cartoonish graphics which really help to avoid going into the uncanny valley which is what the pokemon apocalypse movie fell into"

I just wonder if the guys that made this ever watched our movies.
Some people say that we might have been an influence to them... Personally I don't know, I doubt it but, who knows?

It's great to have your support, but to be honest with you... I felt really small when I watched this video xD

I have a long road ahead of me, my journey is far from over.
One day I'll reach that level... One day...

13 - Mission Cleared!!

1665 files, 67,8 GB of footage reviewed in 6 days! It was an accomplishment x)
It was the result of 10 days of shooting. I've choosen the best shots, it was very tiring...

This was just the one of the first parts in the process, now comes the cutting and the editing.

My problem now is to find actors to shoot the other half of the movie. We're kind of stuck now :/ Anyway, I have a feeling we'll find the right people for the right parts...

12 - Just one day of work...

To show some of you that this isn't exactly a walk in the park...

Here's the result of a normal day of work. 311 files, 10 GB of footage.
Then I have to see everything and choose the best shots.

Right now I have reviewed 6 days, but there's still 9 left.
After this, comes the special effects... which takes even more time.

Do some of you now understand why can't I deliver in 2010? :/

11 - School about to begin + Facebook

In one month we were able to shoot half of the movie but things will start to slow down from now on... As I said earlier, School begins and we'll only be able to shoot in some weekends. We'll have to find time to keep working on the movie.

TRIVIA: Cyndaquil was originally supposed to be Flávio's 1st Pokémon but because of the difficulty of creating realistic fire on its back, Totodile took its place.

10 - We're half way there.. Wooah

We've managed to shoot half of the movie!!!!

Somehow, it remembered me of that BonJovi's song,
"Livin' On A Prayer" xD :

"We're half way there.. Wooah" (Yes, I'm a BonJovi fan) Anyway... 16 hard days, 16 battles, we've reached the middle of the movie. Now, there's more to come. The real challenge begins, the last half... the EPIC ending of the trilogy.

It'll be hard from now on. School is about to begin, so... we'll only be able to shoot in the weekends. Meanwhile, the animators should be working on the animations and I'll start editing what we shot so far.

Another day, another challenge, or should I say, greater challenges? Twelve hours of almost nonstop shooting sequences (from 8 AM to 8 PM (!), but at the end of the day, one thing was certain: It sure was a rewarding (and funny) day of hard work (despite the unbearable heat...). Anyway, we had a great time... Mr. Director Powers (no back pain this time!), Flávio, me.. and that's what really matters (plus getting the 'job' done, of course.)

I have lots of photos from today's shooting to share with you all, faithful fans (and I know you want some ^^). I'll post some 'photographic evidence' later. ;)

Here's the first teaser for the upcoming Pokémon Live Action Movie, The Light of Hope. The one that will conclude Flávio's story and my trilogy.

Will it take long? Yes, its going kind of slowly... its has been my greatest challenge yet, but now I can say without a doubt: We're getting somewhere!

8 - Help us out!!!

Hello guys!!

I've been working a lot and I ended up with some injuries on my back :S So, I won't be able to shoot for a few days. The movie is going good and I'm happy with what we've been doing. I would like to have more people to help me out, help with sound, with the photography, with the editing... it would came out sooner and better, but you know, that's how it works with amateur movies. If you want something done, you gotta do it yourself. It's no big deal, its not my first "rodeo"... I just raised the bar too high and I'm paying the price. It'll pay out in the end ( I hope).

I would like to be more active in the blog but sometimes I just don't know what to post, so... tell me, what would you like to see here?

I'll be waiting for your suggestions ;)

7 - Just... tired

Sorry guys for not being able to come to the blog frequently.. I'll try more from now on, but as you can imagine, I've been really busy.

Right now, we have 5 days of the movie done... which means, there's 25 more to go.
It's been really cool to shot but, it's been really tiring shooting 3 to 4 hours a day. Anyway, I think that in the end... it will all be worth it.

Today we took a day-off, its Flávio's birthday :)

So, it seems that some Spanish friends have made a little dub for our 2nd movie :) I really liked it, it was very well done. It proves that the intonation of an actor makes all the difference. In my opinion, the dub version for Sofia is better than the original. Check it out:

The 3rd movie has been a battle each day. There are always new problems and new difficulties to face each step I take... but I promise you, in a few months from now, can't say really when, you'll be given the ULTIMATE Pokémon Live action ever made: The Light of Hope

6 - Good News + Download Links for the previous movies

Hey guys

We're going to shoot tomorrow. We'll try to shoot as much as we can this summer. It won't be enough to finish the movie... but enough to get to the middle of it.
We're currently working on the Title Theme. Due to what happened with Liliana, we've made some changes to the script and we've introduced a new love interest for Flávio.
We have two candidates for that role :) Now, its just a matter of choosing the best!

We've been receiving some entries for the cameo :D Thanks a lot to everyone. We'll be waiting more.
For those who haven't done it yet... What are you waiting for?! Go make a video!! You still have time.

Pokémon 3 is going slow, but it's coming together, and with all your support... I just can not fail!!

5 - The actors departure... = More delays

It has been confirmed, Liliana is out. I waited for her for like a month... she was always delaying, giving excuses, she wouldn't answer my calls, my messages, until... I got tired and threw her off. I sended her a message telling her that I wouldn't bother her anymore and how curious... That message she answered right away :)

She answered, "I have a personal life". It looked like if she had turned into a hater x) She wanted to enter, the boyfriend just didn't let her. In the 2nd she always was ready for shooting.

Its a little sad because, I wanted to have them in the movie but... oh well. Nothing I can do. I hate it when in movies they substitute actors to play the same role, but I'm going to have to do the same. I'm opening a "Casting" for Sofia's role.

4 - A Long, Boring Wait

I must say, the support of all you guys helped me a lot, and so... I recovered my FIGHTING SPIRIT!!! xD

Thanks a lot everyone :) You can't imagine how much that meant to me.

I've been hyped for days, but I can't shoot anything now. The actors are busy with exams, others need to be persuaded, and so on...

This is going to take a long time. If we shot every day, the movie would took 30 days to shoot everything... but that's near to impossible. We don't have another option but to take it easy.

So, all that's left for me to do... is wait. While I'm at it, I'll play my newest console :P A Wii. I bought one today, along with Mario Galaxy 2 and Dragon Ball: Revenge of King Piccolo. That will keep me busy for some time x)

I'm sorry to keep you guys waiting for a Trailer and the movie... but I really can't do much about it :/ Anyway, you'll be able to see the progress of the movie here.

3 - Stones in the road

So today was our second day... I wasn't going to reveal the title so soon, but I might tell you Blog followers right away. The movie is called "The Light of Hope".

An ironic title, since I'm losing my hope in making this movie. I knew, months before we started, that this was going to be a challenge, but... not like this.
I'm very dissapointed today.

In the previous movies, we were a family and we had a blast each day we shot. Everyone was ready to shoot, laugh and have a great time. This time around, that spirit and feeling isn't there. They didn't want to be there, I could see it in their faces. A few years ago, I thought that I could make movies with my friends my whole life... The fact is, I can't.

Ricardo (you know, that kid that lives next to Flavio in the movie?) is not going to be in the 3rd. Not because he can't, not because I don't want to, he was supposed to be in the story... He refused to participate. Everything was arranged with him, I talked to him and he always said that he could make it. At the last minute "I don't want to be in the movie". He has grown up and I guess he feels too important to be in a movie like this.

Liliana (aka Sofia) is also holding me back and giving excuses. I need to shoot a scene with her and she isn't available. Cause: Boyfriend. He probably doesn't want her to be in the movie. Ok, Ricardo is out. I don't like it that much, but ok... He isn't a very important character anyway... but Sofia can't just dissapear.
What can I do? Nothing. I've talked to her... I'll just have to wait.

I feel I'm the only one that wants to do the movie and, they're making me lose determination. They always backed me up in the past and I'm sad that it doesn't happen anymore. Instead of backing me up, they're putting down my flame. It was only our first two days, the movie is going to take 30 days to shoot. I would love to see this movie done and finish the trilogy, but I can't do it without them.

If this continues like this... at this rate, I won't be able to make it.
All my efforts are about to be in vain. I just feel bad to disapoint so many fans that are waiting for this movie.

You are everything I've got now. Thanks for the ones that have supported me so far...
I'm doing my best.

2 - The journey begins...

Flávio's journey begins in the movie, and my journey for making the movie begins too x) So, I just returned from our first day of shooting and... damn, was it tiring.

It sure was a crazy stunt. 5 pages, 50 shots (we repeat each 2 to 3 times) in a place far away from our city, with a total of 10 people filling two cars and the truck filled with props.

It's hard to get large numbers of people to shoot. They have things to do, they just can't, they'll leave town for a few days... and a million excuses that you can never predict. What I really hate is when some people gives 100% sure they'll make it and at the last minute... they can't -.-

Anyway, I managed to get together all those friends to help me out and everything went fine :) I never had such a hard day of shooting.

We left our city at 12:40 and we arrived at 13.20. I was really surprised, everyone was ready at the time we agreed :O Which is really rare by the way... We started to shoot right when we got there... and we only finished at 18:30. I was tired as hell, and they did too, but we stood strong and we managed to do the impossible!! The actors had a break at 16:00, but I went to shoot other things. I never stopped.

It was hard for all of us. Bruno was with low self esteem and we wasn't making the lines right. Flávio was a little upset because he was tired and even said that he regreted makings this movie. That hurted me a little, but I know he didn't mean it.

A lot of people were watching us :O The actors were a little embarassed. I was too but I just pretended they weren't there. I was in the Live Action Universe, in the universe of my story. It was great to start making a movie again after a year. It was such an warm feeling to see coming to life what I've been imagining for months but couldn't do.

That pretty much describes our day. Our blog will serve to keep a production journal... I hope you guys like to read these sort of things.
I'll certainly enjoy reading these after a while.
